Our house l'Alchemille and our gite Ostal Aquitània, are situated in the Breuil, a small hamlet located within enviable distance of both Périgueux and Ribérac. Ideal holiday place if you want to do some relaxation, shopping for French traditional products and visiting vestiges of a medieval past, equally so, you may prefer to explore a wide range of fabulous natural areas in the so called, Green Périgord area.
The green valleys of Périgord Vert captures the beauty of French rural culture, with its small communities and large areas of woodland, farms and fields of corn and sun flowers.
The village of Montagrier sits down on the hillside dominating the Dronne Valley. Near our rural house and gite Ostal Aquitania you can practice water sports and related activities such as canoeing in the river Dronne and the Lake Jemaye in the Double Forest . There is also a chance to try some rock climbing and VTT as you have a Mountain Bike hire point located in Montagrier.
Montagrier is 1.5 miles away from Grand Brassac and just 0.5 miles up hill from Tocane St Abre, which is a beautiful village to take a daily stroll in. Tocane is a town full of history, the ancient church sit in the centre near the square with its bakery and its popular bistro and a bar, some shops and restaurants which are quaint and modestly decorated offering a good selection of French and English dishes.
Tocane is 6 miles away from our country house and gite Ostal Aquitania, in the heart of Périgord Vert. Tocane is famous for the pétanque competition Al Fresco, fishing, canoeing, horse riding and outside cinema. It is also know for its lively St John Night on June 24th, this is a night not to be missed, and Bastille Day. In July Tocane opens the Fluvial Beach which is another attraction not be missed.
Ribérac is 6 miles away from our country house Ostal Aquitania and offers plenty of activities to keep you and your family busy. In July and August Collégiale Notre-Dame and the Maison des Artistes display exhibitions of paintings bringing the Arts to you. The festival de Musiques et Paroles is held at the end of July, followed by the bric a brac fair on the 3rd Saturday in August. Ribérac also has outside cinema and guided tours in the summer, live bands in the street every Tuesdays and Sunday night throughout the summer; you can not hope for a better holiday destination.
